Patients Rights and Responsibilities
 

 Patients Rights

  To have all the necessary medical and nursing care provided which is available in the health facilities, according to the regulations.

  To be respected by all staff at all times.

  To have assurance of confidentiality in any/all aspect

  To have privacy during procedures and consultations.

  To be protected by appropriate means from hospital acquired infections

  To be provided with a safe environment.

 

 

  To be introduced to all relevant staff.

  To be provided with a means of communication with relatives.

  To be provided with interpreter services.

  To be made aware of their condition, risks and any information required prior to procedures

 To have a second consult/opinion from any other medical practitioner.

 

 

  To have adequate pain management

 To refuse any treatment or procedure, but will be required to sign on against Medical Advice Form.

  To receive relevant Health Education

  To be given a report on their condition. This may also be given to a responsible relative.

  To be consulted when being transferred to another institute.

  To be made aware of relevant hospital policies including the appropriate complaints procedure.

  To have access to the Patient Relations Department Staff.

 

 
 

 Patients Responsibilities

  To provide a full and relevant personal and medical history to Healthcare staff.

  To accept medical advice and instructions regarding their healthcare.

  To attend follow-up appointments and procedures.

  To respect other patients and all staff

  To follow hospital policies.

  To safeguard hospital property.

  To leave the hospital in a timely manner upon discharge and receipt of all relevant medications and instructions.
